A degree is one road.
Education is the whole map.
University, community college, trade school, apprenticeship, military service, certification, employer training, a library, a mentor, or determined curiosity can all expand earning power. No credential guarantees wealth, and education that costs more than it returns deserves hard questions. But the habit of becoming more capable gives a person more ways to earn, adapt, lead, negotiate, and own.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
Black students were about 13.4% of enrolled U.S. residents in fall 2023 but received about 10.2% of bachelor’s degrees in 2022–23. Hispanic students were about 22.2% of enrollment and received about 17.5% of bachelor’s degrees. Those are not cohort graduation rates—the entering students and graduates are not the same people—but the representation gap tells us where to investigate next.
