We are trained to look at the number on the receipt. That number matters, but it is incomplete. Every purchase also carries time: the hours used to earn it, the attention required to maintain it, and the opportunities set aside to make room for it.
The 24K question is simple: was the exchange worth it? That question applies to money, work, possessions, and even the habits that quietly purchase pieces of our day.
